March 18, 2008

 Dear Colleague:

On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Caribbean-Central America Action and the Board of Directors of the U.S.-Panama Business Council, I would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming Central American Energy Supply Security Forum, on May 14-16,  2008 at the Miramar Intercontinental Hotel, Panama City, Panama. This high level Forum, themed “Securing Tomorrows Energy Supply Today”, is being hosted by CCAA in  collaboration with the US-Panama Business Council.

The Forum will focus on energy security and infrastructure successes and challenges at the regional level; take a critical look at the role of fossil fuel in economic development at present  and in the future; and identify other energy options such as renewables and relevant energy policy models related to the region’s energy security. Discussions and presentations will emphasize steps being taken to ensure that Central American countries continue to have sufficient energy supplies to drive business, industry and economic development.

Over the course of the event, you will hear from top energy industry and business executives on the supply and demand sides of the issues as well as top level government officials, regulators and other experts from respected regional institutions.  There will be an opening reception on the first day of the event. Day two will comprise the main panel discussion on regional energy security followed by a black tie dinner. On the final day there will be an optional energy related field trip for international attendees in Panama City.

We hope that you will be able join us to share your views on this important topic, both from your national perspective and in the context of wider regional growth and prosperity.

Your participation in this gathering will be invaluable in creating a greater sense of urgency in meeting the energy challenges affecting the future well-being of our region.
