HIGH PROFILE DELEGATION LED BY HON. PHIL WILSON,
TEXAS SECRETARY OF STATE
A
delegation of leaders from the U.S. public and private sector, led by Texas Secretary of State Hon. Phil Wilson, visited Panama from January
30 to February 1st as part of a Trade Mission organized by the Southwest Chapter of the U.S.-Panama Business Council with the support of the Houston Partnership and the Consulate of
Panama in Houston. The
Trade Mission covered important topics for
Texas and Panama including maritime, air
transportation,
real estate, technology, healthcare, tourism infrastructure,
energy, trade and investment. It
included conferences and visits to important
commercial, industrial and distribution centers
in Panama
City and in the Atlantic Coast.
On Thursday evening the members of the trade mission
were
special guests to the Annual Dinner of the 2008
Board
of Director of the U.S.-Panama Business Council. Texas
and Panama have a long tradition of friendship
and cooperation. Important Texas based companies such as
Continental Airlines, American Airlines,
ExxonMobil, Dell, Hewlett Package, Port of
Houston, Houston Medical
Center, Chevron Texaco,
Kimberly Clark, AT&T, Dynegy, Blockbuster,
and many others, have
a strong presence in Panama and are an important part of Panama's
development. In addition many of Panama's
leaders are graduates of Universities in Texas. The
recently created Southwest Chapter of the
U.S.-Panama Business Council has as its
Honorary President Adsinar Cajar, Consul General
of Panama in Houston, and as its CEO
Julio E. Sosa, Former Minister of Commerce &
Industry of Panama.
