On October 24th, the U.S.-Panama Business Council held its annual board meeting. During the board meeting, the Council appointed Mr. Eugene Renzi new Chairman of the Board replacing Robert R. McMillan, Partner at McMillan, Rather, Bennett & Rigano.  Mr. McMillan remains on the Board.

Chairman Renzi, a retired General, currently served as President of Mantech International. Under his leadership, the corporation has been able to respond to worldwide engineering and technical support requirements during unique contingency situations such as MTISC’s support of Operations Just Cause, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Restore Hope, and counter-narcotics operations in North, Central, and South America. Presently Mr. Renzi has representatives in every country in Central and South America providing communications support to United States Embassies, Federal Agencies, as well as local law enforcement organizations.

Chairman Renzi has had extensive experience in Panama, Central and South America.  He commanded the largest Army telecommunications organization of the United States Army Communications Command.  He was responsible for the security, daily communications operations and maintenance and support of the U.S. Forces stationed in Panama, and the telecommunications security and operational support of the Panama Canal. These positions required frequent interface and coordination at the highest levels of the Government of Panama.

As Panama celebrates its Centennial in 2003, Chairman Renzi will be leading a number of initiatives that the Council will be implementing in several cities of the United States and Panama beginning with an Expo Conference on Multi-modal transportation to be held in Panama City on January 27-29, 2003.

Chairman Renzi is the proud Father of Rick Renzi, recently elected to the U.S. House of Representatives representing  District #1 of the great State of Arizona.
